Adding Curb Appeal

It took a month to reclaim this space in our side yard.  All the rain between
yardwork days helped soften the weed barrier layer of cardboard and newspaper.
I'm very proud of the cement block pad I created for the hose cart!

My awesome neighbors gave me a few bales of pine straw--
there was even enough to mulch around our tree.

My azaleas are blooming all over the place this spring!

Mom planted some portulaca to replace my hibiscus (which didn't survive
the winter this year).  They almost match my azaleas!

Mom also brought excess Monkey Grass (liriope) from her yard to keep
my lonely mum company in my small plot of dirt in the backyard.

I dug the air conditioner unit out of layers of dirt and old pine straw, and
then surrounded it with river rock to keep it from getting buried again.
