When we were dating, he talked about wanting to join the Masons, but found out that being a Mason contradicts Catholic theology (there's even a book out called Why Catholics Cannot be Masons that he wants to read). So he decided he'd like to be a Knight instead. I love that he wants to be one of the uniformed gentlemen who occasionally serve at mass with a sword at his side and a fluffy hat on his head. As a first degree knight, he doesn't know if he gets to "dress up" quite yet, but it gives him something to work towards! And in the meantime, the KoC are all about getting the Knight's families involved, especially with service projects. This should lead to plenty of quality time spent together doing good for our community.

My dad's dad was a member. I remember there being a couple of the Knights at his funeral.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to serve the church and community. I'll be anxious to hear more about it.
