The First Month

Dave and I signed the paperwork for our house on May 22nd!
Before we moved in, we did fun stuff like hire someone to stretch the worst of the the wrinkles out of the upstairs carpets.
While Dave was at work, I tackled small projects like replacing missing or broken door stops.
In the kitchen, I removed broken childproof latches, cleaned the drawers and cabinets, and used a lint brush to get all the little bits left over (thanks for the tip, Pinterest).  I'm still working on getting liners in all of them.
The pantry shelves were dirty, so we popped them out, and I scrubbed them clean.  While they were out, I painted the pantry an exciting shade of generic white to cover the stains and gashes left by 16 years of use.
The previous owners liked using anchors to hang things on their walls.  A lot.  As in I patched at least 20 holes in our master bedroom alone.  These were the worst, from a TV wall-mount.
After quite a bit of deliberation (at least on my part), we picked a new color for the master bedroom: "Forever Denim."  The new color makes our room feel so peaceful!
There is still stuff all over the place since we officially moved in this past Thursday.  Bonus points if you can find the lazy cat in this picture.
Lots of thanks going out to our parents.  My mother was super helpful getting the kitchen and master bedroom ready before we moved in.  Both of our wonderful fathers donated labor during Father's Day weekend to help with some of our projects like hooking up the clothes dryer, assembling grills and file cabinets, hanging towel rods in the master bath, and a little tree pruning in the backyard--which turned into a Home Depot run for something to kill poison ivy.  Our goal is to have the house ready to host 4th of July (aka Dave's birthday) for both sides of our family!
