Bad Bridesmaid

Last night, I spent a mental health evening curled up on the couch and caught up on my reading. One of the books I finished was something that I picked up from the library called "Bad Bridesmaid: Bachelorette Brawls and Taffeta Tantrums--Tales from the Front Lines." The demands the brides put on their attendants in some of the stories was absolutely horrific, and I wondered how she had any friends left after the wedding. One story was about a bride who had promised her girls that they could all choose a dress that they felt comfortable wearing, but she changed her mind when she found the bridesmaid dress of her dreams on the clearance rack. It was a thick fabric, not suitable for her summer wedding, and the bridesmaids phrased their objections very diplomatically so as not to hurt their friend's feelings. Instead of being reasonable, the bride made a scene at the store and dismissed a couple of friends from the wedding party because they wouldn't recant.

I am fortunate that both of my sisters have agreed to be bridesmaids. If I start showing Bridezilla-like tendencies or if my dream dress makes my butt look big, rest assured they will tell me. There's nothing quite like the love and honesty between sisters...

  2. I think that you can expect a heightened sense of honesty and bluntness from me. Because, you know, your wedding is 3 months before mine. So that.
